Twitter Account Verification is Back: What You Must Know!

Twitter account verification is coming back. Three years ago, Twitter stopped Twitter verified accounts service. But, they are planning to relaunch the Twitter verified account program.

This means that verified users account will use the verified badge on their profile. Twitter had relaunched the verification process with few changes.

Twitter is using this time to gather feedback about how the Twitter account verification process should work.

Twitter has said this about verification policy:

Now you may have some question. Don’t worry, here I am answering them.

Who is Eligible for Account Verification on Twitter?

Twitter has identified six types of account eligible for verification;

  • Activists, Organizers, and Other Influential Individuals

  • Companies, Brands and Non-Profit Organizations

  • Entertainment

  • Government

  • News

  • Sports

Twitter has also said that they will verify active and notable accounts.

Notable Twitter account are the accounts that fall in the above categories.

Active Twitter accounts are the accounts that have the following features:

  • Complete: Complete Twitter profile with name, bio, and banner image.

  • Present: You must have accessed Twitter account at least once in the past six months.

  • Secure: You must confirm phone number and email address.

  • Follow Twitter Rules: Your account must not have faced the 7-day or 12-hour lockout in the past six months.

Twitter Accounts that are Ineligible for verification:

Twitter has clearly said that what type of accounts are ineligible for account verification.

Your Twitter account will not get Twitter verification badge if it falls under these issues:

  • Fan, Parody, Newsfeed or commentary account.

  • Account for fictional characters or pets. (If not affiliated with an entertainment or verified brand)

  • The account that had violated Twitter’s manipulation and spam policy. (Example: buying selling, likes, retweets or followers.)

  • Accounts that spread hateful content or harmful activities.

Loss of Twitter Verification Status or Badge:

Twitter reserves the right to revoke verification status or verification badge of any account if it follows these practices;

  • Inactive or incomplete

  • Twitter account.

  • Change in the ownership of the Twitter account.

  • Misleading or impersonating Twitter accounts.

  • Violation of Twitter Rules or Policies.

  • Tweeting content that Violates Twitter policies.

Twitter verification badge removal will not happen automatically.

Conclusion:

Twitter verification policy is open for public feedback. This means that it is not final. Twitter is accepting input from the users and influencers.
