Where did the game originate?

In a game of As Nas, there are four players, each of which are dealt five cards to their right and the dealer will place a stake.
It is believed that the game probably travelled to New Orleans, as Persian sailors visited the shores there and co-operated with the city’s French settlers, and could have shared the game with them.
And so, the game’s journey and evolution began.
Poque
It is believed that the French settlers in New Orleans then went on to form their own strain of the game, known as Poque.
This was a parlour game that was played by French sailors and traders who were residing in America in the 1800s.
It was later adopted and played by English-speaking inhabitants in Louisiana, where it is believed that they changed its name to Poker and developed some of the modern rules of the game that we are familiar with today.
The game’s popularity grows
The popularity of the game is largely believed to have derived from its convenience, and from a desire to have a game to play whilst on the go.
In the 1830s, gambling was not widely accepted in America because of concerns with the morality of gambling.
As this concern grew, strict laws were applied that made it difficult for gambling enthusiasts to play their favorite games on land.
In retaliation to these laws, individuals took to steamboats on the Mississippi river, to avoid the law and to continue to gamble.
Since Poker required little equipment, unlike Roulette, it was the perfect game to play whilst traveling along the river.
This therefore saw a surge in the popularity of the game and with this increased play, it saw a change in format, with the deck of 20 cards being replaced by 52 cards.
The future of Poker
Today, Poker is not only regarded as a game, but as a sport and is played worldwide in high-stake competitions by professional players.
You can now access Poker online in an array of video games and even live games, where you are joined by a live professional dealer and play in real time.
